The NYU-Poly Virtual Lab (VITAL) is a free online-accessible lab available to high school students. All the topics & exercises on CyFor can be completed in VITAL.
The NYU-Poly Virtual Information Technology and Assurance Lab (VITAL) makes use of Virtual Machines (VMs) within a closed networking environment. It provides hands-on access to a diverse blend of operating systems (OS) and IT/IA/Forensics tools. The VMs provide an isolated instance of separate OS running on shared hardware platform. You can read more information about the virtualization technology used in VITAL at http://www.xen.org. It is important to note that although you can access VITAL from the internet, the environment does not have internet access.
All access to VITAL is done via a web browser. VITAL is designed to work with a wide range of browsers (Firefox 3+, IE8, Safari 4) under a variety of OS (BSD, Linux, Windows, Macintosh). You must have an updated version of the Java 1.6 Plugin for your browser installed and Enable Java Applets to allow access from https://vital.poly.edu. In most standard con.figuration, you will be prompted to allow access upon .rst visit to the website. If you are not prompted, consult your browser's manual for help.
If at any time you have questions, or problem, feel free to email firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are a student and would like to request access, you must be a registered user.
